It was 11 years ago, that hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc in the USA and Carribean, touching and motivating many people inside and outside the U.S.A to lend a supportive hand. Due to the terrible encounters and experiences, the tica Desiree Vargas Wrigley felt a great sense of helplessness, since it wasn’t all that easy to help those affected, to rebuild their homes and lives. It was thanks to this feeling of helplessness that she felt the urge to do something for the affected people. Years later, and with the help of the young Ethan Austin, she became the cofounder of the platform Give Forward.

Give Forward is a platform/site that deals with and performs crowdfunding. Crowdfunding enables relatives and friends of people in need, to gather donations to help these affected people deal with the difficult situation in which they find themselves.

In an interview, Desiree Vargas assured that she can now happily answer the following question: What can we do to help? The costa Rican proudly responded that through the creation of the company, they have been able to help people who find themselves in difficult situations. The platform has become a place where large amounts of donations and financial support is given and received.

And it is in this way, that a necessity/urge to help someone in need, can turn into a significant impact on the lives of other people.

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.”
